Exercise plays an important role in health and wellness. Physiotherapists are trained to assess and evaluate the appropriate treatment options to assist clients recover and become healthy. Exercise prescription is an individualized plan prescribed by the physiotherapist to their clients to include active motion, strengthening, stretching, balancing and conditioning exercises.
A physiotherapist prescribed exercise plan is not a personal training session. It is a tool that can be used in conjunction with personal training, or on its own, to help modify exercises in order to facilitate movement. The aim of exercise prescription is to address muscle imbalances, assist in recovery from injury or surgery, injury prevention, athletic performance and functional movement.
