Thai Massage

Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than classic forms of massage. This treatment incorporates acupressure, massage and yoga like positioning to stretch and loosen tightened muscles, release tension and relieve joint discomfort. This is a great way to introduce clients to massage or for clients who may be uncomfortable with skin-on-skin touch or undressing. Thai massage penetrates deep into the tissues as the therapist will deliver the treatment using their thumbs,  hands, elbows, knees and feet.

Unlike traditional massage, Thai massage is performed on a floor mat with the client adjusting their position from lying on their back, stomach and side, as well as sitting. The client remains clothed and there is no use of oils or lotions. There is constant body contact between the therapist and client through the use of compression, pulling, stretching and rocking. The therapist will deliver the massage in a sequence that covers the entire body. This sequence is performed in a similar routine during each session. Modifications can be introduced if there is a need to pay attention to a particular body area.

Thai massage is ideal for clients who are looking to improve their range of motion, stretch tight sore muscles and decrease inflammation. Treatment session can be adapted to meet the needs of the client, however the client must be able to get down to and up from the ground with minimal assistance. The aim of Thai massage is to improve functional movements in clients with conditions such as osteoarthritis, chronic pain or fibromyalgia, increase performance and flexibility in athletes and promote full body relaxation.

It is recommended that clients book a 90-minute session to receive the most benefit from this treatment. To book a Thai massage, call 613-635-7026.
