I love that people come into my office complaining of pain and I can put my hands directly on their pain and work on eliminating it. There is nothing abstract about massage; the work is tangible and incredibly gratifying. Clients love coming to their massage appointments — it's unlike anything else. I have clients, who literally cheer and wave their hands with glee as they go down the halls towards their treatment room. Where else do you see that type of excitement about a medical appointment?
My real passion is treating clients dealing with lymphedema.
Deep Tissue Massage and Complex Decongestive Therapy
Primarily, I perform deep tissue massage and complex decongestive therapy (CDT). Some clients need a release to the very deep layer of muscles and I do this by using my elbows, thumbs, and knuckles, applying a significant amount of pressure. This is best for the person who has a lot of tension and really wants to work it out, or anyone suffering from chronic pain or injuries.
My real passion, however, is treating clients with swelling using manual lymphatic drainage and compression bandaging. Most of my clients have lymphedema secondary to cancer intervention, but also may have swelling due to other surgeries, traumas or insufficiencies. I work on reducing the swelling and pain, increasing the range of motion and improving their quality of life.
I have worked with many clients with lymphedema and find the work challenging and the clients memorable.
