Family Practice

Naturopathic medicine is an excellent addition to everyone’s medical care team. Working in conjunction with family medical doctors (MD), a naturopathic doctor (ND) can provide additional treatment options when exploring the holistic causes of conditions. Naturopathic medicine complements traditional medicine rather than replacing it. The ND is able to spend time with their patients exploring in great detail the root cause of medical conditions as well as assist in developing  comprehensive treatment plans.

The naturopathic doctor can provide alternative treatment options for common symptoms and conditions patients would see their family doctor for, including:

  •   Immune treatment and prevention for flus and colds
  •   Eczema and other skin conditions
  •   Allergies
  •   Digestive health
  •   Women’s health
  •   Men’s health
  •   Chronic pain and chronic fatigue
  •   Migraines and headaches

If naturopathic care is not indicated or other treatment is required, NDs are trained to refer to the appropriate health care professional.

Patients are required to book an initial 45-minute intake appointment and will be recommended for subsequent follow-up appointments in 15 or 30-minute time blocks. To book an appointment with Dr. Cheryl Allen, ND or Dr. Rachel Helferty, ND, call 613-635-7026.

My main interests lie in female hormonal balance and healing the gut. As a Naturopathic Doctor my role is to teach, guide, suggest and facilitate, but it’s the patient that improves their own health.

I have always had a heart for helping others. Initially this led me to exploring the field of Dietetics. Learning the powerful effect nutrition has on the body sparked a passion within me to look deeper into the root causes of health.
