I am passionate about the service I offer as a registered psychotherapist as it brings out the best in people. Together, we explore threshold moments that pose a challenge, but which can also serve as opportunities for growth. I see myself as a facilitator in the potential life-changing direction that therapy can bring. To me, there's no other way to live.
I am passionate about bringing out the best in people.
I primarily use a systemic and humanistic approach to therapy. Systemically, we focus on developing new patterns of interaction in order to better tackle problems. In the humanistic approach, I help bring out the best in my clients, through self-actualization and the expression of each person's capacity and creativity in problem solving.
I specialize in adapting my sessions to meet the needs of each person, rather than having a cookie cutter approach. It is important for me to assist my clients in not only looking at what's not going well, but to also examine what's going great. My aim is to increase my client's levels of happiness, and work towards creating more meaning in their lives.
One type of therapy that I particularly enjoy practicing, is called EMDR. This is a type of therapy that works with eye movements to help facilitate a letting-go of the emotional charge associated with traumas, big or small, and/or persistent negative beliefs.
It is particularly rewarding in that it is proven to be as effective as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This type of therapy can be potentially life-changing as it can help to regain a sense of peace with memories from persistently difficult life events.
