Massage Therapist

I have always had a passion for education and teaching and at university, my focus shifted towards the health field.  While working with varsity athletes, I realized I could utilize both fields.  With massage therapy, I can combine therapeutic intervention and client education to make a difference in my clients’ well-being.

My primary focus is addressing and targeting individual client needs—including treatment styles that focus on relaxation and therapeutic outcomes.  Of particular interest to me is temporomandibular joint (TMJ) massage.  I treat both the muscles on the inside and outside of the jaw to alleviate jaw pain, clicking/popping, headaches, and neck tension.

I have always had a passion for helping people.

A success story that comes to mind is a client seeking treatment for chronic pain related to injuries sustained in the military.  They were very apprehensive and unsure if massage would offer relief, but after just one treatment, the client was overwhelmed with joy at how good they felt.  They experienced a few hours of relief following the initial massage and felt positive about the possibility of future improvements.  It is so rewarding knowing you have made a change in someone’s life–even if it is only for a few hours.

Another focus of my practice is pregnancy, post-natal, and infant massage.  Pregnancy massage helps address postural changes, relieve tension in the lower back, hips, and shoulders, and help increase relaxation.  Post-natal care helps with postural changes related to breastfeeding, carrying a baby, and car seats, and it can address cesarean scar immobility and healing.  Infant massage is beneficial to help address GI mobility, colic, high resting muscle tension and to help promote the bond between mom and baby.

Other modalities I use include Reiki (Level 2) as a non-invasive energy technique, cupping, frictioning, and scar tissue mobilization.

I look forward to working with clients of all ages and throughout the different stages of their lives.
