What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a health care practice that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of healing. The aim of naturopathic medicine is to promote the natural healing powers of the body to treat the underlying cause of disease. Lavallee Health Centre has two fully certified naturopaths on staff. Naturopathic doctors (ND) are regulated primary health care providers who are trained in natural medicine. NDs diagnose and treat most health conditions, chronic and acute. Our local naturopathic doctors offer treatments within the areas of family practice, women’s health, nutritional therapy, acupuncture, botanical medicine, laboratory testing and community education. Our naturopathic doctors are also proud to serve patients from all over Renfrew County, including Deep River, Petawawa, and Pembroke.
What Can I Expect When Visiting a Naturopathic Doctor?
An initial visit with an ND generally ranges from 60 to 120 minutes, where a detailed health history is gathered and steps are taken to identify the root cause of health concerns. Visits are covered by most extended health-care plans. Visits with our NDs take place entirely at Lavallee Health Centre in Pembroke, so you won’t have to leave the Ottawa Valley for naturopathic treatment.
