Who doesn’t love apples and cinnamon- it’s warm and comforting, and in this remix, it is actually high in fiber, protein and anti-inflammatory oils.
Mornings are crazy at our house and sometimes the kids aren’t ready to eat by the the time we have to head out the door. I have tried tons of different recipes for smoothies that will kick start their day and keep them feeling full and satisfied until snack time, and this is the only one that passes their test. They love this smoothie…as is without any alterations!
This smoothie was created because I had a surplus of basil growing in my garden and some coconut water in my fridge that I did not have a use for. After working in my garden on a very hot summer day I wanted to have a cool refreshing drink. I threw a few ingredients into my blender and I loved the result. If you love basil you will enjoy this too.
This smoothie bowl is very fast, easy to make and VERY delicious. I like to make it in the morning when I have school, It doesn’t take long to make and I can have it with some toppings like granola and some fruit like mango, but you can switch that to what you like. I can eat it at home before I leave and not have to worry about running out of time.
I love coffee and I love to add it to a lot of recipies. I recently purched a cold brew bodum and so I have started experimenting. When brewing typically hot beverages in a cold form you will need to steep more of the coffee or tea and for a longer period of time. For 1L of cold brew I use about 1/2 c of coffee and let it steep in my refrigerator for 24 hours.
There is something very warming about chai spices, even in a smoothie you are able to get a warm sense of this special blend. This is a alternative verison to a hot chai tea on days you feel like a frozen drink.
